What to know more about the proposed housing development off Canal Way Ilminster?

Somerset County Council and Persimmon Homes have jointly applied for outline planning permission for a housing development of up to 440 houses to be built on land south of Canal Way, Ilminster.

In order to give the public an opportunity to find out more about the proposed housing plans the Town Council has arranged a public meeting. The meeting will be chaired by the Mayor, Councillor Val Keitch, and representatives from Persimmon Homes and Somerset County Council will provide information about their planning application and listen to comments raised by the public. The District and County Councillors for Ilminster have also been invited to attend as observers.

The meeting will be on 28 March 2017 starting at 7.30pm at Swanmead School, Ditton Street, Ilminster.

The land is currently owned by Somerset County Council with whom Persimmon Homes have a legal option to purchase and develop the land.

The Mayor of Ilminster said “There has been a lot of discussion within the town about the planning application and a lot of media attention; this meeting is a chance to find out at first-hand what is being proposed and to make constructive comments direct to the developer and the land owner.”
