The Citizen of the year, Bradley Cullen Youth Award and the Mayor’s Award were all presented at the Town Council’s Annual Town Assembly on Tuesday 19th April by Mayor Rose Neave.
The Recipients for 2016 are listed below:
Mayor’s Award 2016 – Recipient: Jannine Cox.
‘Supporting the local community without being noticed or asking or looking for recognition.’
Bradley Cullen Youth Award 2016 – Recipient: Aidan Upshall
‘ In recognition of his bravery and positive attitude in supporting his mum & brothers following the sudden loss of his Dad. He has also raised funds for an Epilepsy Charity. His friends are very proud of him.’
Honoured Citizen of Ilminster 2016 – Recipient: Helena Jones
‘Helena works relentlessly for the community and for the benefits of others in her own time and in her role as Tesco Community Champion. She is involved with numerous groups including the Ilminster Fireworks, Gooch Pavilion, Greenfylde CofE School Swimming Pool Appeal, Ilminster Forum Committee, Senior Citizens Lunches & the Defibrillator Appeal. Her achievements include raising in excess of £21,000 for charities such as Diabetes UK, British Heart Foundation & Dementia Action Alliance. Helena’s drive and passion is unique and her commitment to our Town is unrivalled.’
