Ilminster takes its name from the river Ile and its wonderful church, The Minster (St Mary’s Church). Ilminster is a country town in south west Somerset, England, with a population of about 6000. The town lies just east of the intersection of the A303 (London to Exeter) and the A358 (Taunton to Chard and Axminster).
Ilminster Town Council is a non-political council and is represented by 15 councillors. Most Tuesday evenings, the Town Council holds one of the following meetings, Full Council, Finance and Policy, Planning or Open Spaces, all of which are open to the general public and are held in the council chamber in the council offices in North Street at 7.30pm. The agenda for the next meeting is published on the notice board in the Market Square.
