Work on the Recreation Ground and Herne Hill

Posted on 3rd April, 2014 in News

Last Autumn drainage was installed on the Recreation Ground, but due to the bad weather, it was not possible to complete the work by levelling and re-seeding the area that had been dug for the drainage pipes. Now that the weather has improved, work on the drainage project has re-started and it is hoped, weather permitting that it will be completed by the middle of April 2014. This should mean that by early summer the area should be showing good signs of recovery, with new grass growing.

Work on the paths on Herne Hill has also re-started, this involves clearing the slippery surfaces to improve safety and accessibility. Unfortunately the Town Council is unable to progress work on the lookout point, until it is possible to take vehicles along New Road, in order to transport the stone.
